Visitor Information

Face coverings

The museum adopts the following policy in accordance with the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s policy in the interest of minimizing risk of spread of COVID-19 among our visitors, staff, and community. Face coverings are optional at the NMD for guests and our staff in alignment with the lifting of the mask mandate in Baltimore City on Marh 1, 2022. “Face covering” means a covering that fully covers a person’s nose and mouth. Bandanas, gaiters, scarves, and masks with valves are not approved face coverings at NMD. Masks are available upon request at the Admissions desk.

Protect our history

Enjoy the objects on display, but do not touch, except in designated areas. No food, drink, or gum in the galleries, with the exception of closed water bottles.

Access dental history on all levels

The NMD is wheelchair accessible. A complimentary wheelchair is available upon request.

Driving

From Baltimore Marriot Waterfront

  • Head north toward Fleet St
  • Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Fleet St
  • Turn left at the 1st cross street onto S President St
  • Use the the left 2 lanes to turn left onto E Lombard St
  • Turn right onto S Paca St
  • Turn left onto W Redwood St
  • Turn left onto S Greene St.

Metered parking is available on Greene Street (between Redwood St and W Lombard St) and on W Pratt Street (between Penn St and Greene St).

The National Museum of Dentistry has two convenient stops for MTA Buses:

Charm City Circulator

Hop on the Circulator’s Orange route and use the Museum of Dentistry stop when heading west and the University of MD Medical Center stop when heading east. Find out if the Orange route is near you!
